Itinerary

Embark on a thrilling 4-day journey from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert, beginning with a pickup at your hotel or riad around 08:00 AM. Our first destination is the historic Kasbah Aït Ben Haddou. To reach it, we traverse the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, winding through the High Atlas Mountains and passing traditional adobe Berber villages. Along the way, we’ll make several stops so you can stretch, take photos, or enjoy a cup of coffee while soaking in the stunning scenery.

After a short break in Ouarzazate for lunch, the adventure continues to the lush oasis of Skoura. Here, you’ll visit the beautifully restored Kasbah Amridil, accompanied by a local guide who will reveal the architectural marvels of the region and the centuries-old irrigation techniques used in the surrounding oases.

From Skoura, we journey toward Boumalne Dades, driving through the famous Valley of the Roses. This picturesque valley is home to countless Damascus rose plantations and women’s cooperatives producing rose water and other rose-based products. Before arriving at your lodge, we’ll make a brief stop at the top of the Dades Canyons to admire the breathtaking views.

The day concludes with a delicious dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge in the Dades Valley, surrounded by the serenity of the Saharan landscape under a starlit sky.

After a delightful breakfast, we set off along the legendary route of the 1,001 Kasbahs, making our way to the oasis village of Tinghir. The serene flow of the Todgha River provides a perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll, allowing you to soak in the timeless charm of the surrounding Berber villages and ancient kasbahs. This scenic walk leads to the towering cliffs of the Todgha Gorges, a breathtaking natural spectacle that will leave you in awe.

Following the morning’s exploration, we pause for a well-deserved lunch before continuing our journey toward Erfoud, a desert town famous for its vibrant date market and fossilized marble craftsmanship. Next, we visit the historic town of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, Morocco’s ruling family.

As the afternoon unfolds, we reach Merzouga, where you’ll embark on an unforgettable camel trek into the golden dunes. Watch the desert transform under the setting sun, as its ever-changing colors paint a mesmerizing landscape.

The day concludes at your private desert camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits under a canopy of stars. Gather around the campfire, listening to the rhythmic beats of local nomads’ drums, creating a magical atmosphere that resonates with your soul. After this enchanting evening, retreat to your luxurious tent for an overnight stay amidst the tranquility of the Sahara.

Awaken before dawn to witness the first light of day painting the desert sky in hues of gold and rose. Begin your morning with a serene camel trek, or a jeep ride, back to the village of Merzouga, where your driver awaits to continue the adventure.

From Merzouga, journey across the rugged northeastern slopes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, soaking in the volcanic landscapes and striking desert scenery. Your route leads to the charming hamlet of N’Kob, a gateway to the legendary Draa Valley.

As you traverse this storied valley, admire the countless mud-brick villages and fortified kasbahs that have stood for centuries, each telling tales of ancient trade and desert life. Pause along the way to capture photos or simply take in the serene, timeless beauty surrounding you.

By mid-afternoon, arrive in Agdz, a town whose name means “resting place,” historically a stopover for camel caravans traveling from Marrakech to Timbuktu. Continue onward until you reach Ouarzazate, where your day ends in the comfort of your hotel, surrounded by the unique charm of Morocco’s cinematic south.

After a hearty breakfast, set off westward to explore the captivating Berber hamlets of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This remarkable site, one of Morocco’s most iconic destinations, showcases traditional earthen clay architecture at its finest. Since 1987, it has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has served as the backdrop for famous films such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

Take a guided stroll through the village, wandering its narrow alleys and discovering the charm of centuries-old kasbahs. The atmosphere here is steeped in history, offering a glimpse into life along Morocco’s ancient caravan routes.

Next, continue to Kasbah Telouet, perched along the historic route that connected Marrakech to the Sahara. Built in the late 19th century by the powerful warlord El Glaoui, this kasbah reflects a fascinating mix of grandeur and decay, with ornate ceilings and intricately carved decorations telling tales of a turbulent past.

From Telouet, journey across the High Atlas Mountains one last time, absorbing the sweeping landscapes before descending into Marrakech. Your adventure concludes here, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Morocco’s mountains, deserts, and historic treasures.
